Feeling Parisian Elegance in the Heart of Chelsea
After visiting the Gabrielle Chanel Fashion Manifesto exhibition at the V&A, I decided to continue my Parisian mood at PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie.
Cradled in chic Chelsea area, this French-inspired gem, artfully infused with British charm, embodies the true essence of European dining in an ambiance that’s simultaneously elegant and inviting. I assure you, your dining experience here will leave a lasting impression.
Ambiance:
Cocooned in an ambiance of effortless elegance, they whisked me away to the heart of Paris. It’s an ideal spot for an intimate rendezvous, a joyous celebration with friends, or a romantic date. The live music? C’est magnifique, adding an enchanting charm.
Service:
The only hiccup was the service. Regrettably, the staff seemed to miss the essence of hospitality, and the waiting time was quite leisurely. But oddly enough, it did transport me to the streets of Place Vendôme.
While I may not speak français, I’m here in London, not Paris, after all. A touch of kindness would have been appreciated.
Beverages:
A wine list awaits you at PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie, featuring an exquisite selection of French and international wines. If wine isn’t your elixir of choice, their cocktails and non-alcoholic offerings are equally delightful.
Price: ££
If I party with my hard-earned pounds, I’d prefer to savor a meal here, rather than settling for a lackluster pub Sunday Roast.
What I Ordered:
PJ’s Classic TarTare
When it comes to classic French dishes, few can rival the timeless elegance of a well-executed steak tartare. PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie proudly presents its ‘PJ’s Classic Tartare’ as a testament to the culinary arts.
Texture plays a pivotal role in a great steak tartare, and PJ’s Classic Tartare excels in this aspect. While I am more for a rustic meatiness, it was finely minced to achieve a sumptuously silky smoothness, melt-in-your-mouth perfection, with a delicate balance of tenderness.
*Eggs Florentine
Eggs Florentine’ that redefined the art of breakfast. This, mes amis, was among the finest Eggs Florentine I have ever had.
The poached eggs, with their luscious, molten centers, painted a striking contrast against the tender, yet crisp, English muffins. The hollandaise sauce draped the dish with a creamy silkiness that wove all the elements into a lavish embrace.
But what truly set this seemingly simple brunch menu apart were the English muffins. Their buttery richness and perfect baking were nothing short of a masterpiece. I could have easily savored them on their own.
If you are another egg porn, check Porte Noire as well.
Baby Gem, Avocado & Cucumber
This side dish delivered a delightfully crisp and refreshing experience. The salad, though simple, exuded sophistication with its high-quality ingredients. The dressing added a subtle zing that gracefully accentuated the freshness of the components, never stealing the spotlight.
Sunday Roast – Roast Cornfed Chicken
A cherished British tradition, Sunday Roast, found a refined rendition at PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie.
The chicken boasted tender and juicy meat. The accompanying vegetables were prepared to retain a satisfying crunch, adding depth to every mouthful. The gravy, with its rich, meaty undertones, enhanced each bite of the chicken and vegetables.
Conclusion:
PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie is an enchanting domain of culinary passion, meticulously designed to captivate your senses. Whether it’s a special celebration or a simple evening of gastronomic indulgence, PJ’s Chelsea Brasserie should be your destination in this area.
While I liked GAZETTE as a casual authentic French brasserie, this establishment stands as a tribute to the restaurant’s unwavering dedication to time-honored British traditions and French culinary excellence. It was a Sunday feast that left me with a contented smile and a yearning for more comforting cuisine.
