Highjack of Flavor
It was the glorious Sunday afternoon, Kings Cross was teeming with The Classic Car Boot Sale, but who cares about vintage stuff when you’re on a mission for brunch.
Especially if it is brought by none other than the dashing Idris Elba. Known for his magnetic presence on both the screen and in the music scene, Elba has curated a prestigious selection of wines for his brand, Porte Noire.
Isn’t his comment just oozing with sexiness? Trust me, you’ll sense the passion he pours into this den of temptation the moment your eyes meet his curated wine collections.
Ambiance:
As I arrived at the restaurant, I noticed their cozy outdoor tables. However, I recommend stepping through their Porte Noire because their interior is a fusion of moody, dark wood accents and softly lit chandeliers.
It’s the kind of place where whispered secrets and lingering glances feel right at home, making it a prime choice for an intimate dining experience.
Service:
The service was a bit slow, which was a downside. I can only wait for Idris Elba or a good wine anytime.
Drinks:
I could see that they care about authenticity and quality in their crafted wine selection. You can find it from their online shop too.
Price: ££
They have a good selection of wines and champagnes, ranging from reasonably priced options to high-end ones. However, some dishes come with an additional price tag for that extra dash of Elba magic.
What I Ordered:
Wine of the week: Chardonnay
Roasted Cauliflower Bomb, Green Tahini, Pickled Chili
I used to take videos when I was in Asia, enjoying steamed dishes. However, since I’ve moved to London, the opportunities for such experiences have become much less frequent. But this time, I could see the steam! Thank you for serving me a piping hot roasted dish! The cauliflower was roasted to perfection, achieving an incredibly tender interior.
The star of the show, however, was the green tahini sauce. It was creamy, zesty, and bursting with herbs, making it the perfect companion for the cauliflower.
Eggs Royale
Eggs Royale is a brunch classic, and I’ve tried many variations before. It’s all about the harmonious interplay of flavors, and I must say, this one did not disappoint.
The smoked salmon, with its delicate smokiness and buttery richness, paired exquisitely with the perfectly poached eggs. And these two eggs, with their silky, perfectly runny yolks, added a luxurious creaminess that beautifully complemented the salmon’s texture.
The toasted sourdough base provided a rustic crunchiness, offering a satisfying contrast to the delicate textures of the salmon and eggs. The slight tanginess also added a layer of depth to the overall flavor profile, making it the ideal canvas for this regal combination.
Conclusion:
Was I on a date with Idris Elba, or was it just Porte Noire casting its irresistible spell? This place is a rendezvous of divine cuisine, captivating service, and the seductive allure of Idris Elba himself. Whether you’re a devoted Elba admirer or simply in search of a wine adventure, Porte Noire promises an experience that will leave you utterly infatuated.
This restaurant stands as a testament to Elba’s unwavering commitment to the art of seduction, and it absolutely deserves a top spot on your list of must-visit wine temptations.
