Casual French Comfort
Gazette offers a slice of unpretentious French dining in Putney, providing an experience that may become your next neighborhood favorite. It may appear casual at first glance, but be ready to be pleasantly surprised by the authentic flavors that Gazette brings to the table.
This is the kind of place you’d eagerly choose for a relaxed family dinner or a leisurely weekend lunch.
Ambiance:
They don’t aim for extravagance; instead, they charm with their this laid-back ambiance. The warm lighting, wooden accents, and vintage decorations on the walls transport you to a charming French brasserie.
They have plenty of large tables, making it ideal for neighborhood catch-ups, even if you have small baby Yodas walking around!
Service:
The timing of the serving was well-paced, allowing us to savor each dish.
Drink:
Yep, they’ve got wine, but don’t forget to peek at their cocktail and soft drink options . They’ve got some seriously cool names for their drinks. ‘Strawber-Ouiiiii!!!’ was a total winner, and it had this subtle vanilla syrup kick.
Price:££
It’s decent. Actually, it’s pretty darn good.
What I Ordered:
Omelette plus mushroom, tomatoes, and spinach
The omelette arrived on the plate with an inviting, golden hue. The fluffy, perfectly folded eggs created a visually appealing dish. It was clear from the get-go that this omelette was packed with goodness.
With the first bite, I was greeted by a harmonious blend of flavors. The seasoning was on point, enhancing the overall taste without overpowering the natural ingredients.
The eggs, cooked just right, held everything together with just the right amount of creaminess. It was simple, but I don’t think I can make this at home. I loved the hint of herb and garlic flavor.
Bavette
Served with simplicity but prepared with skill, the Bavette steak impressed with its robust, meaty flavor. Seasoned to perfection, the savory notes were accentuated.
The Bavette steak requires precision in cooking, and this establishment certainly understands the art of getting it just right. Whether you prefer it medium-rare or medium, you can expect a consistent, perfectly cooked steak every time. The sear was impeccable, creating a delectable crust that seals in the juices.
Conclusion:
Gazette Putney surprised me with its honest, delicious French cuisine. It may not be the fanciest of places, but it’s perfect for a casual family dinner or a laid-back neighborhood lunch. The unpretentious ambiance, coupled with standout savory dishes, makes Gazette a hidden gem in Putney. Overall, it’s a great option for those looking for a taste of France without the fuss.
I’ll definitely have to come back for their French dessert.
