A Culinary Ode to Bowie
As someone who lives for brunch menus, I knew the Daisy Green collection would not disappoint me. I mean, could they really pull off killer dinner dishes, not just the usual avocado or eggs affair? Well, they totally nailed it with the taste. Especially they are good at grilling.
And their brand new joint is a full-on tribute to David Bowie with a cute small hidden bar downstairs called “The Colony Room Green”.
Ambience:
I totally vibed with the interior, and those big, wide-open windows. You can soak in all the Heddon Street buzz while sipping your wine. But I had this big mystery in mind why no restaurant name outside? Are they hiding from all the crowd on Regent Street?
Drinks:
I liked their varieties of drink menu including their cocktails.
Price: ££
The price tags at Daisy Green are a bit steep for a casual spot, especially when the portions are small. When I hear ‘Daisy Green Collection,’ my mind’s on brunch mode, not high-end vibes.
What I Ordered:
Parmesan puffs
These golden pockets of joy practically begged me for a taste. I dove right in, and oh, the puff’s softness was like a cloud. And that dip—caramelized French onion magic. The sweet taste from the caramelized onion was a great move, balancing out the punch from the Parmesan.
Grilled Australian banana prawns
That Fermented Mango Hot Sauce, they bottled up the tropics in there! This single sauce brought me to the Thai mini beach—heat, tang, and a sweet kick from the fermented mango.
Sweet pea & tahini puree
At first, those vibrant colors had me all excited, but when it came to taste, it was like each components was all at the same dinner but on different playlists.
*Cauliflower steak
As the head honcho of my food blog, you probably already know I like cauliflower. I totally loved this dish, and I had never met this unique flavor combo anywhere else.
The cacao vinaigrette added a secret ingredient that gave a complexity to the whole dish.
Roasted monkfish
Every bite was a vacation along the coastline, with the sea breeze tossing my hair and the sweet aroma of herbs playing in the air. It was a one-way ticket to the heart of the Mediterranean.
The Monkfish was perfectly cooked, delicate texture. And the ratatouille was elevating the whole a dish with their flavor.
And that Basil sauce? It wasn’t just a pretty face; it was actually doing a most important play.
*Grilled lamb rack
Basically a work of art, a shout-out to a top-notch cooking technique. Chops were downright Instagram-worthy, rocking this beautiful pink hue. Each bite was a symphony of tenderness and juiciness that’s basically a chef’s mic drop with this classic cut.
Iberico pork
The sweet corn & coconut puree was my favourite of this dish, bringing all the richness from the grilled pork. The chilli salsa and the jus gave me a fiesta of excitement, it was my kind of flavor rollercoaster!
Conclusion:
Ziggy Green has got me hooked with their one-of-a-kind menus and mains that taste like perfection. With a few more dessert options, it could well become the object of our culinary obsession.
Although, for me, Daisy Green Collection will forever be the brunch haven, not necessarily some dinner queen in Mayfair.
