Found the Joyful Delights in Chinatown
Welcome to a world of authentic Chinese flavors! And the service too… if you know, you know what I mean. This hidden gem in Chinatown is a haven for dim sum enthusiasts. From the delectable array of dim sum to the traditional Chinese cuisine, Joy King Lau promises an experience that will leave your palate fully satisfied. I am happy that the quality was still there even after the owner was changed.
They have a big space and even terrace tables. Their service was a bit slow but that means they made each dishes carefully (hopefully).
What I Ordered:
*Prawn Dumpling (Har Kau)
Look at this beautiful skin. It was moist and steamed perfectly. The shrimp inside was juicy, had a subtle sweetness, so good.
*Steamed Dumpling Shanghai Style (xiao long bao)
Xiao Long Bao is my must-order dish at dim sum place. The moment I bit into the dumpling, a harmonious blend of flavors emerges through the soup. The dumpling skin was thin and resilient, yet strong enough to hold the delectable broth and filling.
Roasted Pork
This dish was a bit oily, but their sauce had a good flavor with a bit of sweetness.
King Prawn with Cashewnuts
Big prawns were flawlessly cooked, but what I liked was the cashew nuts. They were adding a delightful crunch to the dish, bringing a nutty richness that complements the natural sweetness of the prawns.
*Egg Fied Rice
Sometimes, simplicity is the key to culinary satisfaction, and the Egg Fried Rice at Joy King Lau embodies this philosophy. The rice was stir-fried to perfection, resulting in a delightful combination of softness and slight crispiness. Also, I got surprised that it was perfectly seasoned with a pinch of salt.
Conclusion:
The restaurant exudes an authentic charm, and the quality of the food is remarkable. Whether you’re a dim sum enthusiast or someone looking to explore the rich flavors of Chinese cuisine, Joy King Lau is a must-visit destination. I left the restaurant with a satisfied palate!!!
