Tips from Hanako
- Before landing on this island, make sure to withdraw some cash. Otherwise, you’ll end up paying at least 5 euros as a withdrawal fee.
- They usually have Wi-Fi but with a password. You have to ask the waiter, but you may enjoy ask each time because their Wi-Fi password is very tacky.
- Some places might insist they’re restaurants, not cafes or bars, if you only ask for a drink.
- Popular party spots might have large group reservations, so it’s a good idea to check with the manager beforehand to avoid being asked to leave in 30 minutes.
- If you plan to eat and drink on the beach, some places only serve food for a limited time. Best to ask them first to avoid disappointment. And even if they serve food, they do not have nibbles, so grab some from the supermarket beforehand if you’re craving snacks.
- Every waiter might say something different, so don’t be shy to shout out your requests to each of them or head straight to the manager.
- Beach parties usually kick off in the late evening, while afternoons are more chill. Sundays, in particular, have a laid-back vibe.
- All the party places play really tacky songs, and the average is 20s.
- Don’t be surprised if some places don’t actually have the menu they claim to have on their sign.
- Watch out, as some places won’t accept changes to your order even if they haven’t started preparing it yet. (Just plain lazy!)
- You might encounter a storm, but fear not, it’ll likely blow over in 30 minutes. The restaurants here know how to handle the situation well.
- Don’t expect authentic Asian flavors, even if they call themselves Asian food joints.
- When you order food, bread usually comes with it as well.
- Dress code is casual everywhere on the island.
