Where Rich History Meets Irresistible Flavours
Step into the enchanting world of Dubrovnik, Croatia – a coastal gem known for its breathtaking architecture, spellbinding history, and its heavenly food! Wander through the ancient streets of the Old City, where echoes of Game of Thrones’ King’s Landing might just send shivers down your spine. But that’s not the only thrill awaiting you… So let’s get this flavor fiesta started and embark on a tantalizing journey through Dubrovnik’s mouthwatering delights.
Tips from Hanako
- Avoid dining inside the Old Town as much as possible, as prices tend to be double there.
- If you prefer sweet-tasting wines, opt for Croatian Wine over Italian or French varieties, as they often offer better quality.
- Be sure to have cash on hand, as many places do not accept Credit Cards. Some establishments may have card machines, but they prefer to maintain an old-style approach to payment…
- Don’t expect sophisticated service
- English is widely spoken, so no need to worry about communication issues.
- When dining, request that the waiter brings each dish separately, otherwise you may have the issue that they will bring all all at once.
- If you can’t make a reservation online in advance, don’t give up but simply go to the restaurant directly and book a table.
- There’s usually no service charge added to the bill.
- Some restaurants serve tap water, while others may not
- Peak lunchtime is around 1 pm, and dinner is typically at 8 pm.
- Dubrovnik’s restaurant culture is more oriented towards serving meals throughout the day, starting with English-style breakfast and extending to evening wine service. Unfortunately, tapas culture is not as prevalent though.
- Pasta and Risotto options are often served as warm “Appetizers” in Dubrovnik.
- Indulge in the love for gelato – it’s a popular treat in the city. More than coffee places.
- Olive oil is a must-have and is typically provided at each table for diners to enjoy.
