A taste of Mediterranean and Bangali in Islington
Cafe M2B, nestled in the bustling streets of Angel, serves up some seriously delightful flavors. It was one enchanting experience that left my taste buds feeling all sorts of satisfied and my heart content.
So, here’s the deal. I was at this culinary event in the area (for whom curious to know which event, this food event by National Geographic Traveller UK https://foodfestival.natgeotraveller.co.uk/), and my stomach was crying out for something to munch on before it drowned in a sea of alcohol! The interior of the place was pretty casual, nothing fancy or anything, but they had this vibe going on that just welcomed everyone with their open terrace and windows. So, naturally, I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” And also because my stomach was getting pretty rough.
The staff was attentive, friendly, and they really knew their stuff. When I asked them for a drink that could help my poor stomach deal with the alcohol onslaught, they suggested this Mint Tea, and it actually worked like a charm. And here’s the cherry on top: the prices were absolutely wallet-friendly.
What I Ordered:
The menu at Cafe M2B was impressive. They’ve got from hearty breakfast options to mouthwatering mains and indulgent desserts.
Roasted Vegetable Wrap
This dish brought together a mix of roasted vegetables that were cooked to perfection. I’m talking about a combination of sweet and smoky flavour, especially those cauliflowers. And let’s not forget about the melty cheese that took it to the top. It was a perfect harmony.
I liked the wrap itself too. It had that perfect softness that made each bite delightful, but here’s the kicker: it also had these golden, crunchy bits that added a whole new level of satisfaction. It was like the best of both worlds, you know!
And the side salad was jazzed it up with this tasty dressing that covered every leaf with flavor.
Chicken Quesadilla
This classic Mexican dish featured a glorious melted cheese and a burst of flavors that left me craving for more. I actually preferred this spicy Bengali version over the traditional Mexican one. That added kick just took it to another level for me.
Picture this: grilled chicken strips wrapped up snugly in a warm tortilla, with that gooey melted cheese oozing out in all the right places.
But you know what really made this Chicken Quesadilla shine? It was those additional ingredients and the spice that brought a burst of flavors to the party. Sure, the chicken was a tad dry, but the sautéed onions and bell peppers came to the rescue. They added that touch of sweetness and a satisfying crunch that elevated the dish as a whole.
Now, here’s where I had a little hesitation. The dish came with a side of creamy guacamole. I couldn’t help but wonder if it really needed to be there. I mean, I get that a Quesadilla alone might not be enough for a full plate, but maybe they could have offered something like roasted vegetables as a side? Just a thought.
Mint Tea
I don’t think it was made from natural mint, but it definitely did its magic and helped my poor stomach feel better. And here’s the cute part: they served it in this traditional Japanese-style pot.
Conclusion:
All in all, Cafe M2B in Angel is a real gem. The flavors, the vibe, the service, and that amazing bang for your buck… it’s all there. So, if you’re in the area and in need of a tasty breakfast, a satisfying lunch, or a sweet treat without breaking the bank, give Cafe M2B a go. You won’t be disappointed.
