Why Sucre London is a Must-Visit for Steak Lovers
If you’re talking top steak restaurants in London, Sucre in Soho absolutely deserves a mention. This is a place that delivers where it truly matters: jaw-dropping steaks, a stunning interior, and an exceptional Argentinian wine list.
The tradition of Latin America’s Fire-cooking met with global influences by Jack Godik, a chef trained in Argentina and Uruguay. The result? Flavor-forward cooking that firmly earns its place among London’s serious steak destinations.
While the menu shows Jack’s experience in British fine dining and a family immersed in hospitality, I found the dishes on the table to be more simple and bold than traditionally “fine dining” — which, for me, worked perfectly. Let the flavours do the talking.”
Atmosphere:
The restaurant is set within the former concert hall of the Royal College of Music, which explains its grand, soaring ceilings and sense of space — it’s clear why the interior feels so special. Perfect for a celebration, a special dinner, or just a night out that feels truly elevated.
Valentine’s Day bookings last night, anyone?

Service:
The male staff member at reception was incredibly welcoming — warm, professional, and set a great first impression. Once inside the main dining area, however, the service felt a little less attentive than expected.
There was a small miss when our artichoke steak was forgotten and arrived after the main steak, and unfortunately, there was no comment or acknowledgment about it. Those details do matter.
Drinks:
The Argentinian wine selection deserves a standing ovation. Thoughtfully curated, bold, and beautifully paired with the menu. Whether you’re into crisp whites or deep, structured reds for steak, you’re in very safe hands here.
Price: ££££
Yes, it’s a premium restaurant — but worth it. The quality of ingredients, the cooking, and the overall experience justify the price point… even if the service wasn’t flawless this time.
What I Ordered:
Cheddar & Caramelised Onion Empanada
Golden, flaky perfection. The cheddar melts beautifully into the sweet caramelised onion — rich, comforting, and dangerously moreish.

Braised Brisket Empanada
Deep, slow-cooked flavours wrapped in crisp, golden pastry. While it could have been a touch juicier, it was still comforting, warming, and well-seasoned — exactly what you want from a classic empanada.
Argentinian White Prawns with Kombu Butter

Plump, naturally sweet prawns elevated by an umami-rich kombu butter. Luxuriously rich and indulgent, to the point where just one felt deeply satisfying.
Artichoke Steak with Whipped Garlic Dip & Olive Oil

A beautifully executed vegetable dish — smoky, tender artichoke paired with silky whipped garlic and good olive oil.
Unfortunately, it arrived after the steak, which meant it lost some of its impact despite being very well cooked. Also worth noting: it’s a very small portion, which feels slightly underwhelming given how good it actually is.
Duck Breast, Braised Red Cabbage & Clementine

I’ll be honest — duck is rarely my first choice. But this dish completely won me over. Impeccably cooked, with none of the overpowering meaty smell that often puts me off, the duck was rich yet refined.
The sweetness of the clementine cut through beautifully, while the braised red cabbage added depth and warmth. Elegant, balanced, and surprisingly memorable — a dish that quietly stole the show.
Paddock Farm Bone-In Rib-Eye and Grilled Vegetables

Ohhh. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
This is the kind of steak that resets your standards. Perfectly cooked with a flawless char, unbelievably moist, and packed with deep, unapologetic beef flavour. Rich without being heavy, indulgent without tipping into excess — every bite got my full attention.
Side veges were simple, smoky, and vibrant. The perfect supporting act to the main event.
Conclusion:
Sucre is a glamorous dining destination, but beneath the polished exterior lies flavour-forward cooking — which I loved — firmly earning its place among London’s serious steak destinations.
While the experience wasn’t necessary flawless — and that may well have been isolated to our table — it was undeniably memorable and absolutely worth experiencing at least once.
