Sam’s Brunch Palette
Located next to the famous pub that serves crisp pizza in W6 Hammersmith, there’s a cozy little spot that captured my heart on a recent Sunday brunch outing with my boyfriend – Sam’s Kitchen.
Living nearby, we’ve been meaning to check out this spot for ages, and let me tell you, it lived up to the hype.
Ambiance:
Sam’s Kitchen has this lovely, cozy vibe that just draws you in, making it the perfect setting for a leisurely brunch date.
However, I have to admit, I’m not entirely sure if they’ve achieved their goal of creating a relaxed vibe. The place tends to get pretty busy, and it’s not exactly the quiet hideaway where you can curl up with a good book.
Service:
While the service wasn’t flawless, it was clear that the staff were doing their best to ensure everyone had a pleasant experience.
Drink:
As we settled in for our first visit, I couldn’t help but notice the steady stream of locals popping in just for a quick coffee. And I must say, the coffee was excellent! Rich, aromatic, and perfectly brewed, it was the ideal complement to our brunch dishes.
Price: ££
One thing that pleasantly surprised me was the affordability of the menu. It’s not often you find a place on London these days where you can enjoy a delicious brunch without breaking the bank.
What I Ordered:
Beetroot Tahini, Spiced Carrot, Charcoal Sourdough Toast
When the plate arrived, I was greeted with a burst of color and artistic flair. The deep, rich tones of the beetroot tahini had me practically drooling before I even took a bite.
Taking the first bite was like uncovering a hidden treasure. The charcoal sourdough toast, with its crispy exterior and soft, airy crumb, served as the perfect base for the symphony of flavors that followed.
The velvety beetroot tahini offered a subtle earthiness, perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the spiced carrot. Each element was thoughtfully seasoned, with hints of warming spices adding depth and complexity to the dish.
But what really made this dish rock was the mix of textures. I had the smoothness of the tahini playing off the tender roasted carrots while the crispness of the sourdough toast provided a satisfying crunch with every bite.
Buttermilk Pancakes Treacle Cured Bacon & Maple Syrup
A Breakfast Classic Elevated! Pancakes were like little clouds of heaven, light and fluffy with the perfect hint of sweetness. And the bacon! Crispy on the edges, yet still tender and packed with flavor. It was like a flavor explosion in every bite.
Although, if I had to nitpick, I’d say they could’ve been a bit more conservative with the maple syrup. Those pancakes were like sponges, soaking up every drop and making things a tad too sweet for my liking. And as much as I adore cinnamon, I could’ve done without the dusting on top.
But you know what made this dish truly special? It brought me a cozy memory of lazy weekend mornings. It was like a warm hug in food form, and that’s something you just can’t put a price on.
Conclusion:
My time at Sam’s Kitchen Hammersmith felt like falling in love with brunch all over again. From the cozy atmosphere to the delectable dishes, every second there was like a sweet embrace of good food and great company.
If you’re in search of a brunch experience that will leave you utterly besotted, look no further than Sam’s Kitchen – where every bite is a love letter to the senses.
Tips from Hanako:
- Walk-in only, no reservations required!
- Before you head over, I’d recommend taking a peek at their sample menu. It’ll give you a good idea of what to expect and help you start drooling in advance.
- They might sneak in some extra ingredients or sauces that aren’t listed on the menu. So, if you’ve got any dietary restrictions or preferences, it’s a good idea to double-check with the staff when you place your order.
