Found a Boyhood Dreams
Strolling down the quaint streets of Islington, you’ll stumble upon Homeboy Bar, a real hidden gem that’s all about Irish vibes with a modern kick. As soon as you walk in, it’s like stepping into a big, cozy hug, with rustic décor giving off major chill vibes and setting the stage for a seriously unforgettable time. No doubt that they are one of the top 10 Best International Cocktail Bars.
Ambiance:
The inside was kinda dim, but it had these awesome posters that made me feel like I’d stepped into the owner Aaron Wall’s ultimate hangout spot, like something straight out of his childhood dreams. And let me tell you, they’ve got this live music thing going on Thursdays that’s just the icing on the cake for a chilly but snug Thursday night.
Service:
But perhaps the most enchanting aspect of Homeboy Bar was its unparalleled hospitality. Have you ever heard that Irish folks are all about hospitality?
Well, they nailed it here. They’ve pretty much got three out of four Irish traditions down part.
Drinks:
Of course, no visit to Homeboy Bar would be complete without sampling one of their signature cocktails. From the moment the first sip touched my lips, I was transported on a journey of flavour and sensation, each concoction a symphony of perfectly balanced ingredients.
Whether you’re a fan of classic favourites like the Dublin Mule or prefer to indulge in something more adventurous like the Irish Coffee Martini, Homeboy Bar has something to suit every palate.

What I Ordered:
Beef Chilli Nachos
I dug into this classic favorite, and enjoyed it. But, their onion game was strong! Like, really strong. You might wanna have a mint handy after this dish, just saying.
Chilli Cheese Fries
The fries, crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside – total perfection. And it was all about the cheese. It coated those fries and chilli in this velvety goodness that took the whole dish to a whole new level of yum.
Cheese Burger
That first bite was something else! The burger was just perfectly put together. The patty? Cooked to this flawless medium-rare, bursting with flavour and juiciness. And when those succulent juices mixed with the melted cheese? Seriously indulgent.
Vegan Guiness Stew
As someone who loves digging into hearty comfort food, I was curious to see how they put their own twist on a classic with their Guinness Stew. Unfortunately, they ran out of the original, so I decided to give the vegan version a shot.
Now, since it was vegan, it didn’t quite hit the same flavour notes as the original stew. But those chunks of tender root veggies still gave a good chew, and the broth, infused with that Guinness goodness, definitely brought some cozy vibes.
But you know what stole the show for me? The Irish soda bread. I loved the gorgeous texture, perfect for mopping up every last bit of stew.
Guiness Chocolate Cake
First off, kind of a bummer that the place was dimly lit, couldn’t really see the cake too well. And to add to that, the cake itself wasn’t as moist as I hoped. Despite all that, I still dug the sweetness of the cream.
Conclusion:
Homeboy Bar offers a delightful fusion of Irish tradition and contemporary innovation. You know those places where you can totally vibe with the owner’s vision and what they’re all about? That’s what Homeboy Bar is all about, and I’m totally here for it.
If you’re down for a food and cocktail experience that’ll totally sweep you off your feet, then Homeboy Bar’s where it’s at.
